| After one of the most tightly contested super leagues in years and with the dawn of a new era upon the sport, the Saints pulled off an unlikely victory at the theatre of dreams on Saturday.
Following an unbelievable loss of composure by Ben Flowers in the 3rd minute, both teams having chances with only a penalty apiece to separate until Wigan, down to 12 men soldiered to a try by young Joe Burgess just before half time, Matty Smith missing that conversion and another penalty.
Wigan came out tired in the second half, with a try from Sia Soliola and a final big effort from the Saints, overlooked by England Tommy Makinson proved a point by drawing in a huge Paul Wellens bomb to power over with 12 to go.
